If You Cook It, They Will Enjoy

Dear Mr. Costner,

It has become apparent to us here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" that in order to get something to call our own (a photo of you looking at our blog) that perhaps we owed you something you could call your own.

Upon coming to this realization we brainstormed the many things we could give you that would last a lifetime and beyond. Many things came to mind but of all of the trinkets and tangible objects we came up with, none seemed all that enduring. Then we resorted in desperation to our normal outlet of google where we found a recipe for Costner's Navy Bean Soup. This seemed perfect. Here was something that already had your name attached to it. Therefore, you could pass it off as your own family recipe whether or not it actually is. So without further ado, we thought we'd present to you the recipe for Costner's Navy Bean Soup:

INGREDIENTS:

1	lb dried navy beans
4-5	cups water, to cover
1	large onion, chopped
1	ham steak, chopped
2	smoked ham hocks
2	garlic cloves, chopped
2	bay leaves
2	stalks celery, chopped
1-2	potato, cubed, no need to peel
2	carrots, chopped
	salt and pepper, to taste

1. In a stock pot, add navy beans, water to cover, onion, ham steak, ham hocks, garlic, bay leaves and celery. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to medium low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Add potatoes and carrots and cook on medium low until carrots and potatoes are tender (about 35 to 40 minutes). Remove ham hocks and shred or just tear meat off of bone and add to soup. Add salt and ground pepper to taste. Serve and sit back so you may enjoy the smiles on everyone's face. This really is a "keeper". ENJOY!
