Seize The Day with Q & A

Dear Mr. Robin Williams,

While we here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" have tasted success in the past , we are under no illusions that procuring a photo of you looking at our blog is going to be as easy as pie. Rather, it will probably resemble your average game of Jumanji, minus all the stampedes. While the degree of difficulty of reaching our goal might be reasonably high, we figured we might stand a better chance if we were to explain our motives more clearly. So with that in mind, Mr. Williams, we've taken into account any (but by no means all) questions you might have regarding this here blog. So here's our stab at asking and answering the questions you might have.

Q: Since you seemingly achieved your goal with your last mission when Kevin Costner sent two photos of himself looking at your blog, why do you feel it your duty to continue attempting to get celebrities such as myself to look at your blog and duplicate said success?

A: Well Mr. Williams that really is a great question and we're so glad you asked. The fact of the matter is that we here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" are tired of the way the blogosphere scrutinizes the every move that celebrities make, relying on snarky-ness and bitchiness and just plain toilet humor to knock the celebrities they so admire down a peg. People like "Perez Hilton" draw a penis on people's face and pass that off as creative writing. We prefer our method of showing reverence for our favorite performers by using irreverent means. As they have endeared themselves to us through their stellar work, so shall we endear ourselves to them.

Q: Well then why have you chosen to endear yourselves to me?

A: Mr. Williams, attempting to get you to send a photo of yourself visiting our blog was a no brainer. Ever since we were young children we have been in awe of your comedic, as well as dramatic talents. We loved how on pretty much every episode of Nickelodeon's "Turkey TV" they would show the clip of you imitating Elmer Fudd imitating Bruce Springsteen. We count your roles in Dead Poets Society, Good Morning Vietnam, and Good Will Hunting as some of our favorite performances of all time. Don't even get us started on "A Night At The Met". In that special you brought a certain poignancy and humanity to standup that we had never seen before...sure we were 7 years old at the time but we haven't seen it since either. In short, RW, if we may call you that...We're big fans.

Q: Well, I'm so glad that you're big fans but if I sat around taking photos of myself looking at all of my big fans' blogs then I'd do nothing but take photos of myself looking at my big fans' blogs all day. Why should I participate?

A: Mr. Williams, the one reason you should participate is because you want to. We hope that our previous effort with Kevin Costner will demonstrate to you that we have no interest in jerking you around or making any unreasonable demands of you.

Q: Asking me to send you a photo of myself looking at your blog doesn't count as an unreasonable demand?

A: (Pause). Well, maybe it's a little unreasonable. But not, you know, not in a malicious, paparazzi hiding in your bushes way. We like to think of the request as more irreverent than anything else.

Q: Well, what if I don't want to send a photo?

A:We're confident that after you "get to know us" (by reading our continuing blog-posts to you) that you will become comfortable with the idea. We're taking a page from your, Billy, and Whoopi's playbook. When you guys started Comic Relief your goal was to make people do something they probably weren't inclined to do, part with a small amount of money and send it to a worth charity. You did it by being tenacious, and putting in the hard work of a decade-plus worth of comedy shows. That's exactly how we look at our efforts here Mr. Williams (except for the giving to charity part). We'll prove ourselves worthy of your effort, though we hope it won't take ten-plus years for you to respond.

Q.You bleep-holes aren't going to bring up "Mork and Mindy," are you?

A. This is one of those areas where we really have to weigh the pluses and minuses, Mr. Williams. We feel it's important to judge a creative individual on the entirety of their output, not just to zone in on a single work that may have been very popular, but might not demonstrate the full versatility of the artist. We're sure that acclaimed director Ron Howard bristles when he walks down the street and people yell-out "Hey, Richie Cunningham, how's Fonzie?." We assume that you may have a negative reaction when asked "Hey Mork, where's Mindy?" We know the day may come when we'll get annoyed from people asking us "Hey guys from If I Blog It They Will Come, how's Kevin Costner?" In our opinion "Mork and Mindy" is but one quiver in the Robin Williams arsenal, and a true appreciation of your talents lies only in a complete overview of the Williams canon. On the other hand, "Mork and Mindy" was the formative Robin Williams experience of our young lives, and was the gateway to the richer, deeper Williams work that we would enjoy over the following years. In other words, we have a soft spot for it. So it is very possible, Mr. Williams, that in a future post we will discuss "Mork and Mindy."

Q: Let's just say, hypothetically, I had an interest in participating today....What would I have to do?

A: All you'd have to do is sit down at a laptop or personal computer...go to if "I Blog It, They Will Come" and have someone snap a photo of you looking at said blog. Then upload said photo into your computer and send it along to djayek@yahoo.com and we'll post it and be forever indebted to the wonderfully quick-witted Robin Williams for a long, long time.

Mr. Williams, we hope that we've answered all of your questions. If you have anymore you can shoot them to the email address above. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
The Folks at "If I Blog It They Will Come"

special thanks to A. Morton
