Blog of Dreams

Dear Mr. Costner,
As we begin yet another week of incessant bloggery here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" the voices in our head grow stronger. Like Ray Kinsella in that Iowa cornfield we hear voices telling us "If You Blog It He Will Come" and "Go The Distance", though there was no voice that wanted us to "ease his pain".

When we first began this blog we wondered aloud, "We just created something completely illogical...Are we nuts? And it seemed a lot of people had that same question. We're not sure if we've answered the critics or naysayers but we know we're going to follow our dreams no matter how illogical they may be.

As Terrence Mann once wrote "There comes a time when all the cosmic tumblers have clicked into place and the universe opens itself up for a few seconds to show you what's possible." We here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" believe this is that time. We believe achieving our dream is possible. However, our dream isn't to be sitting with Terrence Mann or James Earl Jones at Fenway Park eating a hot dog or getting Shoeless Joe Jackson to play baseball once again. It is merely that one day we will wake up and check our email at djayek@yahoo.com and find an email from you or your publicist with a photo of you looking at our blog. It seems like a much easier dream to fulfill than Mr. Kinsella's because a. It doesn't involve driving, b. We don't have to force a 60's literary icon to go to a baseball game with us, and c. it's not a costly endeavor whereby we could end up losing our farm.

In any case, we've sacrificed our metaphorical corn crop to make this blog. We've put ourselves on the line so that one day you might wander in from the cornfield that is our email inbox and play ball. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
The Baseball Loving Folks at If I Blog It They Will Come

p.s. Happy Belated Birthday to Annie Costner who turned 23 this past weekend.
