Name That Costner

Dear Mr. Costner,

In light of your recent baby news, we here at “If I Blog It They Will Come” decided we’d take a crack at coming up with the perfect baby name for the newest addition to the Costner Clan. Not that you need the help, you’ve done a fine job so far as Annie, Joe, and Lily are excellent names. We know it must be a lot of pressure coming up with the perfect baby name. So we figured if we did you the favor of picking out your child’s name, you could do us the favor of going to our blog and getting a photo taken of yourself while looking at our blog and emailing it to djayek@yahoo.com.

It wasn’t easy for us to find ideal baby names. We had to throw away our personal favorites Football for a boy and Illegitimate for a girl. We’re saving those for our own kids, also we wouldn’t want people lumping you, Kevin Costner, in with the scores of celebrities who name their kids something crazy. Instead of flipping through a book of baby names we decided that we would pick from the massive pool of characters and co-stars that have appeared in your films over the years to come up with the three perfect names for Baby Costner in both the Male and Female categories, as we do not know what sex the child is going to be.
So without further ado, our own little version of Name that Costner:

If It’s A Girl:

Rae: Rae Dawn Chong is one of our favorite actresses of the 80’s. She was beautiful, strong, intelligent, and extremely enjoyable to watch on film. She was in three of our favorite 1980’s films American Flyers, Commando, and Beat Street.

Stands With A Fist: If you want your little girl to grow up a strong, independent woman, the way we see it, there’s no better name than Stands with Fist.


If It’s A Boy:

Ray: In our opinion Ray Kinsella was one of the most pure of heart characters ever to be portrayed on the silver screen. He followed his dreams to fruition no matter how irrational others may have perceived. Yeah, we’re talking to you Timothy Busfield’s character in Field of Dreams. Also, Rae Dawn Chong is one of our favorite actresses of the 80’s and Ray is male interpretation of her name.

Wyatt: Wyatt Earp was one of the most respected and courageous lawmen of the Wild West, but you know that already since you played him in the 1994 Epic, Wyatt Earp. We could think of worse people to name your son after.

Crash: Let’s face it, Crash Davis is one of the best characters in film history. He was wise beyond his years, athletic, and certainly had his way with the ladies. In my honest opinion, any child would be honored to sport the name of the all time minor league home run champion.
