Costner At The Oscars

Dear Mr. Costner,
We weren't sure whether or not you would be at the Kodak Theatre for the 79th annual Academy Awards ("the Oscars"), as you were not nominated this year, but "If I Blog It They Will Come" could only hope that despite your absence as a nominee your presence would be felt. It took all of our intestinal fortitude to sit through the majority of the four- hour plus broadcast, which for the most part was a snooze-fest (How do you get through those ceremonies, sir? Do they at least let you drink?).
We had our suspicions as to how you might get worked into the ceremony. At first we thought that the Academy might do a special 16th Anniversary tribute to the 7-Oscar Night Dances With Wolves enjoyed in 1991, but we reconsidered because the Academy usually waits 20 to 30 years before doing anything like that. That's the problem with the Academy, they always play it safe.
At long last the moment we were praying for occurred during the Ennio Morricone tribute. There you were...as Eliot Ness in The Untouchables It brought us back to the disappointment we felt on that fateful day in 1988 when the Oscar Nominees were announced and you were not on the list despite your fearless portrayal of the one and only Chicago lawman. We cried so much that day. We felt your snub. We asked our mothers why someone so obviously talented wasn't getting recognized for a job well done. Our heartbroken mothers didn't know what to say? Never before had they had to explain the harsh realities of getting snubbed for an Oscar nomination before. It takes years to get past something like that and we thought we finally had.
But the pain of being snubbed was renewed for us when we started this blog. Every day since January 25th, we have felt snubbed by you, Kevin Costner, as you have not responded to our efforts. We here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" only ask that you identify with our plight as you know what it's like to be snubbed while trying your damnedest to make people care. We only ask that you send us a photo of yourself looking at our blog to djayek@yahoo.com, so that we can feel something akin to a 7-Oscar night like the one you enjoyed in 1991. Thanks for your time and consideration Mr. Costner. We hope that you've lost that snubbing feeling. We'll be waiting.
Sincerely,
The Folks at If I Blog It They Will Come
Special thanks to A. Morton
