The Mission

Dear Mr. Costner,

As we near the one month anniversary of the inception of "If I Blog It They Will Come" we remain proud of the work we're doing here at the site, and feel we are flying high. You could say we're on a mission, Mr. C, much like the one you undertook in the Amazing Stories episode entitled "The Mission" in which you played The Captain. But there is always the danger that the longer we fly high, the greater the risk that this endeavor could run out of gas, and if we don't get your attention soon, come crashing to the ground.

We liken ourselves to Casey Siemazko's character Jonathan the artistically-gifted bellygunner, in that same episode. The way we see it, you're in control of this "plane" (our destiny) but we're stuck in the "belly gunner's pod" (our meaningless existences), as the "flaming wreckage of a downed Nazi plane" (our unrealized hopes and dreams) prevents us from getting out and the landing gear from coming down. We're running on fumes, Mr. Costner, and we're coming in for a "crash landing that will collapse our belly gunner pod" (failure). The only way we're going to land this thing without "decorating the runway with our intestines" (succeed) is if we "make a magical drawing of some new landing gear" (write these posts) and get you to "try the landing gear switch one more time" ( send us to send a photo of yourself looking at our blog to djayek@yahoo.com). That we can "reach the ground safely" (post your picture) and get on with our lives (start bothering some other celebrity).

Mr. Costner, as it stands right now it looks like we're heading for almost certain death in a fiery crash, but we've seen that show and we know that's not how our Amazing Story ends. All that we ask is that you try that landing gear. Do it for "Jonathan" (If I Blog It They Will Come), sir. Flip that switch.

Sincerely,
Your Bellygunner "If I Blog It They Will Come"

special thanks to A. Morton
