Cuatro De Mayo

Querido Señor Costner,

Como estas? Estamos muy bien aquí a "If I Blog It They Will Come". We're preparing for our big Cinco de Mayo weekend so we thought we'd brush up a bit on our español. We figured maybe embracing our bilingual nature might win us a whole new audience. In any case, Cinco de Mayo isn't just about drinking Margeritas and snacking on chipotle flavored snacks for us at this here blog. It's much more meaningful than that. We here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" hold it dear as historical inspiration. On Cinco De Mayo en 1862 The Mexican Army led by Ignacio Zaragoza despite being outnumbered by about 1,500 men fought to a decisive victory over the occupying French Army in the Battle of Puebla.

Since that day, according to someone who wrote about it on Wikipedia, "The Battle of Puebla is seen as a symbolic cultural link to those who had to overcome insurmountable odds while facing adversity". Señor Costner, we here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" feel as though we are trying to overcome similar insurmountable odds in our own metaphorical Battle of Puebla. Yes we are aware it's a poor metaphor since no one is going to die in our battle. In a way, each of us has a Battle of Puebla to fight. For some, shyness might be their Battle of Puebla. For others, a lack of education might be their Battle of Puebla. For us, The Battle of Puebla is getting you, Kevin Costner to send in a photo of you looking at our blog to djayek@yahoo.com. But as sure as this blog is named "If I Blog It They Will Come", on Cinco De Mayo everyone can defeat their own personal occupying French forces to win their Battle of Puebla, whatever that battle may be.

So it is with much pride and vigor, that we here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" march on. We will continue to struggle against insurmountable odds for as long as it takes. But before we focus on the "as long as it takes part" we plan on getting all of our aggressions out tomorrow by smacking around a piñata shaped like a tiburon (that's shark en español). We'll also be drinking tequila, listening to a live Mariachi band and shouting "olé" a lot. It should be a lot of fun. You're like definitely invited but if you're going to bring someone let us know because we need to make sure we've got enough Negra Modelo. We don't want to go on any beer runs during the party. Oh, and if you're going to show up bring some Tostitos, but not the kind with the lime flakes. Those are disgusting. Alright talk to you soon.
