The Cautionary Tale of the Cadillac Man

Dear Mr. Williams,

It was our original intent here at "If I Blog It They Will Come"to post every day this week in pursuit of our goal of getting you to visit our blog and send a photo of yourself doing so to djayek@yahoo.com. However, we nearly had a nervous breakdown trying to keep all of our personal and professional obligations in order that we missed our post yesterday. At first we were quite distressed but rather than go full speed ahead with all of our commitments we took a moment to ruminate on the situation.

We were reminded of your character Joey O'Brien in the movie Cadillac Man, who was trying to balance two girlfriends, an ex-wife, a runaway daughter, and the fact that he just might lose his job if he didn't sell enough cars all on the same day. While we don't have two girlfriends (we can barely muster one), nor are we in the midst career crisis (blogging isn't a career), we had plenty of errands to run, personal projects to address, and debts to straighten out that led to us to missing our Wednesday commitment to this here site.

We took comfort in the old Chinese proverb that reads, "options lead to insanity" and remembered how when Joey tried to tackle all of his responsibilities it resulted in Tim Robbins crashing through the window of Turgeon Auto and a Police standoff, not to mention an inordinate amount of time being spent with Fran Drescher and a barking dog. While the odds of that occurring in our situation were slim to none, we decided that it was better to let barking dogs lie and Tim Robbins rest (though we wouldn’t mind Elisha Cuthbert crashing through our door) and wait til today to solicit your participation in our venture. While it occurs to us that you may think our venture is absurd as attempting to sell a woman a new Cadillac at her husband’s funeral, that doesn’t mean we’re any less likely to get on with it. That being the case, we again kindly request that you might send us a photo of yourself looking at our blog to djayek@yahoo.com....that is if you are so inclined and if you don't have too much on your plate. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
