Costner's Indian Summer

Dear Mr. Costner,

When a Costner related story slips through the cracks, we here at "If I Blog It They Will Come" shrink ourselves down to a really small size and dive on through those cracks to go fishing for all the news that's fit to blog. We're not sure how this particular story from July 5th originally escaped our peripheral vision, perhaps its because we're not frequent readers of The Times of India (which we've recently discovered to be a fine periodical for Entertainment stories and are planning on subscribing) or perhaps we were swept up in all of the patriotic fervor from the previous day but the point is, we were not on top of our game. If we expect to get you to send a photo of yourself looking at our blog to djayek@yahoo.com we can't be as complacent as we've been as of late.

If we weren't combing the barren desert of information that is the Internet, how would fans know that you've been chosen for the role of Ravan in Luis Mendoki's film Haruman (produced by Uru Patel), a revamping of the ancient Sanskrit epic Ramayana, attributed to the poet Valmik. Now, we're not exactly sure what this story is about but knowing that you're going to be starring as Ravan has made us want to read this important piece of the Hindu canon, though we'll obviously wait until after we see the movie since we don't want our view of the movie and your performance to be tainted by something like prior knowledge of the story. The least enjoyable part of seeing a movie that has been adapted from a famous epic is that moment you say, "Hey, that's totally different from in the book". We want every moviegoing experience to be pure and therefore shall wait til we pick up the historically important tome.

Besides, we spend entirely too much time writing this blog to read other people's work, no matter how classic. We only hope that one day, long after you've sent in a photo of yourself looking at our blog to djayek@yahoo.com, we will finally catch up on years of fantastic novels by writers other than the entertainment columnist of the Times of India.
