Oh Captain, My Assistant Captain!

Dear Robin Williams,
We here at If I Blog It They Will Come recently happened upon this ESPN article where it was brought to our attention that both you and Michael Jordan were being seriously considered for roles as co-assistant captains for the U.S President's Cup team by new captain, Fred "Boom Boom" Couples. First of all, we 'd like to applaud the esteemed Mr. Couples for his two choices. He couldn't have done any better. After all, Michael Jordan is the Robin Williams of Basketball and Robin Williams is the Michael Jordan of comedy. When asked why he mentioned you, Mr. Robin Williams, as a potential assistant captain, Couples said:
"It [golf] can get extremely boring. … In my opinion, to have someone of that magnitude come in and be funny and entertaining, would be a treat for everyone."
Aside from the obvious thrill of getting to refer to you as, "Oh captain, my assistant captain," we have to admit, we know exactly where the President's Cup captain is coming from. Like golf, blogging can get boring...and like Fred Couples, we know that Robin Williams is never boring. That's a big reason why you're the current focus of our site. There are plenty of celebrities we could court, but not many celebrities bring the magnitude of excitement that you do to the table.
That's why we constantly labor to bring you to our table in the form of a photo of you looking at our blog sent to djayek@yahoo.com...for the sheer excitement we get out of discussing your work every day. It's a joy and a pleasure, and rest assured, never boring. We hope you that with your participation, we might one day become the Robin Williams of blogs...consistently funny...sincere...inspirational...never boring. Thanks for your time and consideration and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
The standing on our desk folks at If I Blog It They Will Come

Hi there!
You've got some really interesting content here on your blog. I actually just found you through digg. It's a wonder your articles don't get more votes!
I've actually been having the same problem with my own blog, DeanAndTheCaptainsBlog.blogspot.com. It seems like it's impossible to make the front page unless you are a top user or a site that already has tons of traffic. I've actually heard that these sites do all types of things to get more votes.
The only chance us little guys have is to work together, so I've been working to set up a networking group of like minded bloggers. Nothing illicit, just a group of friends to network with and exchange the occasional Digg or Stumble. I've heard this is crucial for getting any real traffic from these sites.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, we'd love to have you as a part of our group. Just email me back at leedean81@gmail.com with your email address and I'll give you the details.
Look forward to hearing from you soon!
Warmest Regards,
Dean
